"据古鉴今,以立时治"不仅仅可以看成宋仁宗对《新唐书》的评价,还可以作为宋代学者历史总结的旨趣来考察。"据古鉴今,以立时治"的历史总结的旨趣,反映出宋代学者对传统的以史为鉴思想与以史经世思想的继承和发展,显示出理学思想的影响使历史总结超越了追求实际功用的狭隘目的,进入到对历史演变的理性认识、对治国之道深入探讨的新阶段。
＂Appraising the world according to only the evaluation to Xin Tang Shu （ New Books on but also the purpose of history summarization by the development of the thoughts of learning from history past experiences and creating current social prosperity＂ is not Tang Dynasty） by the Emperor Renzong in the Song Dynasty scholars in the Song Dynasty. It reflected the inheritance and and ruling the state according to history by the scholars in the Song Dynasty, and demonstrated that the influences of Neo- Confucianism thoughts has surpassed the narrow pur- pose of questing for practical functions, and developed into a new stage in which they rationally realized the historical evolution and explored ways to rule the state.
