托尼·莫里森的长篇小说《宠儿》,以真实的历史事件为蓝本,深入分析了美国黑人奴隶真实的生活状态以及奴隶制度对黑人的精神摧残。莫里森受到新历史主义思想的影响,认为真实的历史须要用文字积极地再现而不是简单地记录。小说中,她虚构了奴隶制下一个杀婴母亲的生活经历,真实地描述了一个女奴的个人历史。作者希望能通过对这一有代表性的人物的塑造填补美国黑人在奴隶制时期的历史空白,帮助美国黑人通过了解自己的历史而重新确定自己的身份。
Beloved by Toni Morrison was written on the basis of a real event.The novel deeply analyzed the living conditions of black slaves and the mental torture they suffered due to the slavery system.Morrison was influenced by new historicism ideas.She believed that the real history needs rewriting rather than recording.By inventing the life story of a slave mother who killed her own baby,she recorded the truth in history in its truest aspect.This book contributed to the creation of a typical character so as to fill in the historical gaps of American Blacks in the slavery era,thus arousing modern black people to recognize their own identities via rememorizing their history.
