摘要
《月亮宝石》对印度人形象的再现流露出东方主义思维的印迹,但也揭露了大英帝国对殖民地印度的剥削和掠夺,谴责了英国殖民者的贪婪与伪善。这体现出作者对殖民主义政策的反思和对殖民政策对英国本土的反向影响的关注。因此,小说构成对已被内化的东方主义观念与帝国主义意识的挑战。
＂The Moonstone＂ manifests some vestiges of Orientalist mentality,but it also criticizes the English Empire＇s exploitation of India and colonialists＇ greed and hypocrisy,which shows the author＇s reflections upon colonialism and concerns about the reverse influence of colonialism upon the English society.The novel constitutes a challenge to the already internalized Orientalist mentality and imperialistic mindset.
