In the regime of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, the army soldiers to conquer the south and large numbers of people were sent to Guizhou to open up the wasteland and grow farm crops. The houses that they lived in were called Tunpu, and the people were called Tunpu residents. The Han culture that they brought in was merged with the natural and cultural ecological environment in the central Guizhou and became a unique culture of Tunpu, which serves as the live fossil to study the culture of the Han nation in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the Ming Dynasty, of which the womeng costumes are the best sample for us to learn further about the old Han nation. On the basis of historical materials and field investigation, this paper tries to study the changes of women's costumes of Tunpu from the period of the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, and then analyzes the social factors for such changes so as to give a view to study the traditional social development of Tunpu.
