摘要
语言是文化的载体，语言能直接、客观地反映了文化。本文通过对英汉双语中的指示代词“这（this）”和“那（that）”使用频率的对比研究，指出汉语中“这”的使用频率要高于“那”，而英语中“mat”的使用频率比“this”高，从而得出结论——汉语的指示代词更受心理距离的影响。对于英汉指示代词使用差异的了解有助于加深了解中西文化的差异，能进一步加强跨文化交际的能力。
Language is one of the important features of culture because a language would reflect, in certain aspects, the culture of a society. The paper intends to show the cultural differences between China and English speaking countries by a contrastive analysis of two marked demonstratives--this and that--in both Chinese and English, to find that Chinese people are more affected by psychological distance, which helps to enhance the multi-cultural communication.
