流浪主题是古今中外的普遍话题,无论何种意义的流浪,家园意识、怀乡感伤都是流浪者的普遍情愫。作为精神的流浪者,托马斯·沃尔夫的生活一直"在路上",因此,他对故土、对家园怀着一种复杂的感情。火车是沃尔夫作品中最持久的意象,通过对沃尔夫作品中火车喻意和人物对家园的不同理解的分析,可以体察作者固有的流浪的精神气质和矛盾的家园意识。
Picaresque theme is a universal topic. Among the motifs, nostalgic emotions to home always find their way into the mind of a wonderer. As a spiritual wonderer, Thomas Wolfe is often ＂on the road＂. It is no wonder that he has a contradictory feelings to his homeland. As a metaphor repeatedly used in his novels, train will be a suitable clue for readers to know his picaresque spirits and contradictory emotions to the homeland.
