The catalytic activity of strong acid type ion exchange resin in esterification of L phenylalanine by methanol was investigated.An optimum technological condition was found as follows, under methanol/L phenylalanine mole ratio 1∶1,catalyst amount 45g/L,temperature 80~85℃ and reaction time 8h.Compared with traditional technology it was an ideal method for producting L phenylalanine methyl ester because of its good yield,low cost and simplicity of operation.
