摘要
《红楼梦》为我们建构了一个人物权势关系纷繁复杂、等级制度森严的微型社会,而直接体现这种复杂权势等级关系的便是一套庞杂的称呼语。从权势建构的角度审视《红楼梦》霍克斯译本,发现大量体现权势等级关系的称呼语被替换或简化,造成了与原著在权势关系建构中的不对等。
The Story of the Stone constructs a miniature society with clear hierarchy and complex power relations among different characters. Such complex power relations are manifested through a large set of address terms. This paper appraises The Story of the Stone translated by David Hawkes from the perspective of the construction of power relations and finds that large amount of original address terms marking the borderline between different parties are replaced or simplified. Thus the translated version of The Story of the Stone is not equivalent to the original work in the construction of power relations.
