Scholars in the Warring States Period and the Qin and Han dynasties alleged that seven out of the 300 songs included in Shijing (《诗经》) were made by Lord Zhou Dan. However, such an opinion was disputed by some later scholars, whose arguments are mostly highly convincing. Historical events, reflected from Shijing circulated in the Qin and Han dynasties, pay more attention to teaching good morality than caring about whether those events are true or not, though most of them were fabricated during the period of Warring States. Therefore, the events reflected in the Crickets recorded by the bamboo slips collected by Tsinghua University must have been made up by people at that time.
