摘要
研究存储系统容量和性能问题,主要是为了提高存储设备的I/O性能,设计出一种存储设备的热区域块重组机制。根据存储设备的I/O请求特征,将存储设备中频繁访问的块确定为热区域块,并将热区域块移动到临近的区域。对热区域块的自动重新组织能够降低存储设备寻道时间,提高I/O性能。此外,机制还具有文件系统和应用透明的特点。与同类方法相比,还具有实现简单、节省存储空间的特点。通过仿真试验对该机制进行评测,实验结果表明热区域块重组机制显著提高了存储设备的I/O性能。
A Hot-Zone reorganization mechanism is designed to improve the I/O performance of storage devices.Based on the characteristic of I/O workload,the blocks accessed frequently are called hot-zone in storage device,and all hot-zone of a storage device is moved to an adjacent region.The mechanism performs automatic hot-zone reorganization to reduce seeking time of storage device and to improve disk I/O performance.Furthermore,the mechanism is transparent to applications and file systems.Compared with similar mechanism,Hot-Zone reorganization mechanism is simple and storage space saved.These experiments comprehensively demonstrate Hot-Zone reorganization mechanism's effectiveness in improving I/O performance.
