Pan Ku's Hanshu sets a precedent for dynastic histories of China. As a historical biography, its literariness, especially after China's liberation, has been covered by the fame of Si Maqian's The Records of the Grand Historian while there's even a margin to specialise in Hanshu's value of discribing female image. Hanshu was composed to center on royal family. The consorts were the indispensable part, who were not only connected with many events but also took on feminine characteristics. The book is rich in content. The author selected material strictly centering on the consorts' character and destiny to portray their vivid image. Although these consorts were only extremely trivial characters, the author separated complexity and briefness properly to make the key point stand out. This shows that the author had the great capability of writing, and also reflected the literary value of Hanshu from one side.
