ABB＇s UNITROL 5000 self-excited static excitation system is used for Laxiwa＇s 700 MW turbine-generator units. This system consists mainly of automatic excitation regulator, thyristor power rectifying devices, de-excitation and over-voltage protection device, initial excitation equipment and other operating equipment. The main functions and characteristics of various components of UNITROL 5000 are introduced.
