摘要
在林纾研究中,大家多聚目于"林译小说"的光芒,其实,"林译小说"成功的最重要因素是作者扎实的古文功底。可以说,林纾的翻译、创作与理论研究都是传统文化长期浸染、厚积薄发的结晶。林纾的一生,古文因缘极深,他自小习读古文,成年即以教书为业,入京后与桐城文派颇有渊源关系,"五四"期间又为维护古文而抗争。作为古文家的林纾,其一生与古文有着牵扯不尽的因缘。
Novels translated by Lin have caused more considerable concerns in the field of Lin Shu research. Actually, success in his translation of western novel attributes greatly to his solid background in classical prose. That is to say, his translation, his literary creation and theories are all the crystallization of his long-time assimilation and accumulation of traditional culture. In the whole life of Lin Shu, classical prose plays a primary role. He studied classical prose from the cradle, taught it by profession at his manhood, what is more important, he had deep relationship with Tong Cheng School, even struggled for vindicating classical prose＇s position during May 4th Movement, so as to form his unique theory on classical Chinese. In short, there are countess ties between Lin Shu and classical prose.
