摘要
本文从中间类型词素"s"的角度来探讨、研究科技英语中名词单复数转义现象。笔者收集、整理并分析了《英汉技术词典》中413个名词单复数转义词条,将转义类型分为七类:辐射变化、紧缩变化、实体转抽象、抽象转实体、意象迁移、单个变系统和完全转变。期望此研究能帮助英语学习者理解名词单复数转义的来龙去脉。
This paper aims at discovering the rules for the changing of meaning for nouns in technical writings by adding ＂-s＂ which is named as ＂middle morpheme＂. Through analyzing the 413 examples, it is found that there are 7 ways of changing the meaning. They include generalizing, specifying, abstracting, concretizing, image shifting, system forming and total transferring.
