摘要
虽然杜威被誉为20世纪最伟大的西方美学家之一,但他的美学思想却迟迟不受重视。究其根源,杜威在美学方法论和理论构成上的缺陷是其美学遭受冷落的主要原因。首先,杜威拘泥于传统美学的写作风格,其语言使用和概念缺乏清晰性。其次,杜威美学缺乏对文学理论的关注,因而先天不足,缺乏影响力。只有到了20世纪后期,随着分析美学的衰落,杜威的美学价值才得以显现,并成为日常生活审美化的主要理论渊源。然而,随着审美泛化的加剧,杜威美学也可能导致某种审美困境。因此,在当代新美学的氛围下,我们既要看到杜威美学思想的进步性,又当注意其不足。
Although John Dewey was hailed as one of the greatest aestheticians in the 20th century, his aesthetic ideas had had little influence among western aestheticians until recently. In the final analysis, this fact is accounted for by some defects in his aesthetics, especially in his method and theoretical construction. First of all, Dewey 'aesthetics was confined within the ambiguous writing fashion of traditional aesthetics, thus suppressed by the then dominant analytic aesthetics. Second, Dewey paid so little attention to literary theories that it was quite impossible for his aesthetics to be well received. Only with the decline of analytical aesthetics in the end of 20th century did Dewey's aesthetics become important, especially as one of the major theoretical sources of the current phenomenon so called "aestheticization of everyday life. " However, with the further development of aestheticization, Dewey aesthetics may lead to a certain aesthetic dilemma. Therefore, apart from the positive aspects of Dewey's aesthetics, we should also be aware where it falls short.
