摘要
英语学习词典释义的语义特征与词典用户的认知效率有着密切关系。在义项排列上,相对于历史发展原则,使用频率原则和逻辑联系原则更符合词典用户的认知模式;在释义用词上,学习词典首选基本等级范畴词,而非上位范畴词或下位范畴词,以降低词目检索的认知难度;以转喻、隐喻为基础的语义网络是义项排列中逻辑联系原则的认知基础,强调同一词目义项间的内在联系,避免了传统词典语义学仅仅关注义项间的区别性特征而导致的语义割裂倾向,更有利于词典用户的词汇习得。
Semantic features of English Learner's Dictionary' definition are closely related to dictionary users' cognitive efficiency. In terms of sense arrangement, English Learner's Dictionary should follow the principle of frequency and the principle of prototype instead of the principle of historical development. As for defining vocabulary, basic level category vocabulary is of particular significance in reducing entry-- searching's cognitive difficulty, compared with subordinate category and superordinate category vocabulary. Semantic network based on metaphor and metonymy is the inner cognitive mechanism of polysemy, which focuses on the inner link among various senses of the same entry, thus enhancing dictionary users' vocabulary acquisition and avoiding the semantic disconnection among senses which is common in traditional lexicographic semantics and caused by excessive emphasis upon distinctive features of senses.
