摘要
作为新格莱斯会话含义理论的重要推理契机和出发点,荷恩等级的建立有一定的科学性和规律性。然而因脱离语境,忽视认知结构和诸多社会变量的影响,荷恩等级理论在语言使用中有其局限性。本文拟对列文森所提出来的荷恩等级关系作一些理论上的探讨,指出荷恩等级理论的一些不足之处。
The establishment of Horn Scale, an important inference apparatus and starting point of neo - Gricean theory of conversational implicature, is, to some degree, of scientific nature and regularity. However, Horn Scale has its limitations in actual language use as a result of its ignorance ofthe effects of the context, cognitive structures, and social variables. This thesis attempts to discuss some of the limitations of Horn Scale based on careful theoretical studies.
