福泉阳戏属傩戏范畴。其突出特点,一是巫的成分很重,二是神灵众多,三是法事活动伴以戏剧表演。阳戏被阳戏坛门认为是"老君教",即道教,而"阳戏"的称谓也容易使人认为它是一种纯审美综合艺术。但分析表明,阳戏既不是严格意义的人为宗教,也不是纯审美艺术。阳戏是一种区别于官方仪式的、表达世俗民众趋利、避害、求吉祥、保平安的民俗仪式活动,是一种民俗表演。
Fuquan＇s Yang drama belongs to Nuo （mask） drama, where shaman, theological and clergy services dominate. An analysis shows that this performance is neither purely religious nor purely aesthetic. Instead, it reflects the public＇s desire for benefits, luck and safety through folk acting.
