详细介绍了台湾地区纺织纤维的需求以及人造纤维制造工业的现况。台湾的人造纤维主要为合成纤维，１９９７年产量达３０７．４万ｔ，台湾地区消耗２１２．９万ｔ，直接外销９２．７万ｔ。台湾合成纤维原料的生产已有了长足的进步，ＰＴＡ生产能力已达２９４万ｔ／ａ。
The textile fibers demand and the current situation of man made fiber industry in Taiwan region were introduced in details. The main man made fiber of Taiwan was synthetic fiber. The production reached 3 074 159 t in 1997. The Taiwan consumption was 2 129 000 t and the direct export was 927 000 t. The raw material production for synthetic fibers made successful development. The production capacity of PTA reached 294 000 t/a.
