摘要
罗伯特.弗罗斯特是一位极受欢迎的当代美国诗人,一般认为他的诗歌通俗易读。但易读并不意味着易懂。他的诗歌其实蕴涵着一种意义的不确定性,亦即诗人以语汇、意象、修辞和格律等手段在诗歌中组合成一套复杂的意义系统,使得诗歌具有多重阐释的可能性。本文即以弗罗斯特诗歌《未选择的路》为例对此进行探讨。
Robert Frost is a popular contemporary American poet whose poetry is generally believed to be easy to read. However, being easy to read does not necessarily mean being easy to understand. There actually exists a quality of uncertainty in meaning, namely, a complex meaning system employing vocabulary, images, rhetoric, meters, etc. , which creates the possibility of multi-interpretations of his poetry. A case in point is his ＂The Road Not Taken＂.
