摘要
语言学界传统上一向认为汉语是世界众多语言中数字文化最为发达的文字，而鲜有人提出英语在这方面也具有一定的可比性，以致许多学人默认英语的数字文化很不发达。本文为了正视这个问题，用大量数据和实例再现两种语言在数字文化上的原貌，力求得出一个客观公正的结论，以廓清人们在这个问题上的模糊认识。
It is traditionally thought in the linguistic community that Chinese is the most developed in numeral culture among many languages around the world, but up to now there has been almost no mention made of the comparability of English in this respect so that many scholars have a tacit understanding that English is not at all developed in numeral culture. To clear up this conception, this thesis aims to reflect the status quo of the two languages in numeral culture with statistics and examples, and attempts to reach an objective and impartial conclusion so as to promote the further understanding of this issue.
