摘要
本文通过对红粘土中土洞的勘探、测试、分析研究，总结了土洞存在的条件、形成机制及特征类型，评价了建筑场区的工程稳定性特征。
There are quite a few of caves which exist in the Quaternary deposits-red clay -covered over carbonate rocks in northern Guizhou. The authors' investigations of these caves showthat they are remains of karst caves originated from underlying carbonate rocks and preserved afterconversion of carbonate rocks to red clay through laterization. In this paper, a set of conditions topreserve the caves is illustrated and an evaluation of engineering-geologic effects of the cave presence isgiven.
