摘要
乔伊斯的短篇小说集《都伯林人》始于第一个故事的垂死状态，止于最后一个故事的接近重生状态，建立了一个死亡-重生的生命循环。其中的各个故事不仅互为反映而且都是全作总体母题，即追寻母题从不同角度的再现。通过对神话本身以及乔伊斯对原神话暗喻的变形，如渔王与宗教信仰，荒原与都柏林的物质上精神上的荒芜，圣杯骑士，圣杯少女的关系与都柏林人的两性关系，圣杯与爱尔兰本土文化．土地的重生和水源的解放与小说集结尾处对重生希望的象征等比较，本文试图寻求一种对于《都柏林人》的双重理解：既作为一种对当时特定的历史社会背景的自然思考．同时也作为人类对一种更广大的刺激状况，即伟大的生命循环的一种共通的反应模式。
