Julian Barnes is a contemporary British contemporary writer, who came to his fame in his literary career in the 1980s. He has published at least ten novels, as well as many essays and short stories. Some of his novels, such as Flaubert＇s Parrot, A History Of the World in 10 1/2 chapters, and England, England, rank high in British contemporary literature. His newly-published novel Auther ＆ George is included on the nominee list for the 2005 Man Booker Prize. Barnes adopts a skeptical approach to the traditional concept of historical authenticity, raising the question of whether objective truth in history really exists.
