摘要
本文论述了传统的分类法在信息网络中的应用。作者认为分类法在网络环境下既受到挑战，又面临着新的发展机遇，它在网络中可以用于联机浏览检索、非文本信息的组织、超文本系统的管理，并可以作为网络信息组织的通用工具，促进分类主题一体化的发展。作者还描述了应用于信息网络的未来分类法的主要特征，即机读化、国际通用性、兼容性、灵活性等。
Classification plays a very important role in the traditional document organization and manual retrieval. Under the networking environment, the advantages of classification is getting evident and its importance is recognized by experts. They are applied in online browsing; organization of nontext information; management of hypertext and as a common information organization language, which will promote the integration of classification and thesaurus systems.
