摘要
《收藏家》中米兰达是艺术美的象征。她不仅相貌出众,脱俗,还有一颗美的心灵;她不但有欣赏美的能力,而且更有创造美的才华。正因为此,她成了男主人公克莱格所仰慕、所追求并囚禁的对象。克莱格是美和自由的扼杀者,他酿造了一部美的悲剧。而米兰达所爱的G.P.这一人物象征自由,是米兰达追求自由的表征。
In The Collector,the heroine-Miranda was the symbol of artistic beauty.She was not only extremely beautiful physically,but also spiritually.She owned the ability of appreciating beauty as well as creating beauty.However,due to her excellence,she became the collector Clegg’s prisoner,who imprisoned Miranda,and deprived her life cruelly.Clegg was a killer of beauty and freedom,while G.P.,Miranda’s pursuit,was the symbol of freedom.
