摘要
古希腊罗马神话作为西方文化的源流之一,孕育了整个西方文化。有无数个英美作家引用其中的神话典故,用以美化其言辞,锤炼其篇章。后来随着那些带有古希腊罗马神话典故的文学作品的广为流传,这些典故词语又融入到英语词汇当中,被广泛应用于文学、艺术、科技、商业、广告、日常生活的各个领域中。作为英语学习者,只有了解和掌握这些神话典故,才能深刻理解英美语言文化的内涵。
The Mythology of Greece and Roman, as one source stream of the western culture, gave birth to the whole western culture. A great number of English writers quoted the allusions from the mythology in their works with the spread of these classical works, these allusions came to merge into English vocabularies and were used in many fields. Such as literature, science, technology, commerce, advertisement and people＇ s daily life. As Enlist learners, as long as we understand and master these mythological allusions, we can understand the profound connotation of English language and its culture. This article will focus on introducing these allusions and their features.
