摘要
本文把新文化运动置于现代中国立国进程中进行考察,以解释在此一运动之后展开的立国进程的基本特征,与胡适所代表现代中国自由主义在立国进程中的无力感。本文指出,胡适本人具有明确的立国意识,透过其"中国文艺复兴"事业,为现代中国的"国语"、"国史"等现代制度奠定了基础。但是,由于受启蒙哲学支配,胡适和其他启蒙知识分子并未能找到建设现代社会秩序、政治秩序的有效进路。相反,启蒙哲学非政治、反政治的政治观开启了意识形态化的革命政治时代,从而导致中国建立现代国家的进程发生根本转向,由此建立的现代国家内在地无法实现自洽。
The New Cultural Movement is studied from the perspective of modern state-building in this paper.By investigating the inner spiritual structure of this movement,this paper will explain the incapability of modern liberals represented by Hushi in the course of state foundation,and the radical character of founding activities after this movement.It is also pointed out that Hushi had a distinct consciousness of state-building,which is shown by the fact that his Chinese Renaissance Program lays baisis for the establishment of Chinese national language,national history and other modern institutions.However,due to the domnination of enlightenment philosophy,China's modren liberal intellectuals failed to find an effective approach to building modern social order and political order.Instead,their nonpolitical and anti-political views of politics open a path to radical ideological revolution,which made China deviate from its right course of modern state founding.The two modern states that were built through these revolutions couldn't form and conserve stable civic order.
