18世纪英国最杰出的政论家和讽刺小说家斯威夫特以他高度艺术性的讽刺嘲弄文笔,简洁生动的语言,朴实清新的风格赢得了他在英国文坛上的声望。《一个小小的建议》是其最著名的政治性散文,是英国文学史上讽刺作品的典范。极尽反讽之能事,就爱尔兰人口过剩问题,向英国女王建议"温和的"解决方法。文章意在通过对该名篇的诠释和分析来探讨斯威夫特突出的反讽艺术和令人流泪的荒诞。
Jonathan Swift,the most outstanding satirist in Enlish 18th century literature, has won his reputation by his artistic irony, simple vivid langugae and plain style. A Modest Proposal, his prominent political prose, is generally taken as a perfect model in English literatue. It is proposed to solve the overpopulation problem of Ireland,which is full of irony. Based on the analysis and interpretation of this famous prose, the paper is meant to highlight Swift＇s striking irony and bleeding absurdity.
