产品信息建模是加工自动化的首要环节。文章介绍了在英国曼彻斯特大学理工学院(UMIST)开发的一个面向CAD/CAPP/CAM应用的产品模型,它侧重于加工过程之前的产品信息建模。该模型可以描述产品的几何与拓扑信息和技术信息。技术信息包括尺寸公差、形位公差、表面质量要求及加工余量等.产品模型的核心是一个内部开发应用的实体几何造型建模──TTM。该建模器有可表示任何与零件几何形体有关信息的内在能力。
Modelling product information is a top priority for automated manufacturing. The paper describes a product model developed at UMIST for CAD/CAPP/CAM applications. Its focus is on representing information prior to manufacturing activities. This product model can represent geometrical and topological information of a part, and technological infomation such as conventional and geometrical tolerances, surface finish and machining allowances. The core of the model is an in-house geometrical modeller known as TTM. It has its intrinsic capability of representing any information relevant to the geometry of a part.
