摘要
文章分为四个部分。首先,本文着眼于共同的全球性因素——环境、人口、经济——这是21世纪初所有变化中的经济和社会所面临的基本挑战。其次,聚焦于经济,通过考量经济中日益重要的面对面交流和经济集群,探索发达经济中出现的知识经济转向。第三,揭示空间含意:特别是多中心巨型城市区域这一新的21世纪城市形式的出现。第四,考量来自欧洲和中国最近研究的证据,聚焦于在这样一些复杂的城市区域的规划和治理问题。
This paper is divided into four sections. First, it looks at common global parameters environmental, demographic, economic - which present basic challenges, common to all dynamic economies and societies in the early 21 st century. Second, focussing on the economy, it probes the shift to the knowledge economy in advanced economies, considering the enhanced importance of face-to-face contact and economic clustering in this economy. Third, it explores the spatial implications： in particular, the emergence of a new 21st-century urban form, the Polycentric Mega-City Region. Fourth, considering evidence from recent European and Chinese research, it focuses on the problems of planning and governance within such complex urban regions.
