According to Mark Turner, story, projection and parable are not only elements of literature but also basic means of human thinking. Mixed spaces and multiple spaces are very useful in limited time and space in the process of cognition; the singular self should go beyond its order to comprehend a story and to understand him/herself and others. Turner also subverts the traditional theory about the origins of language, arguing that story and parable are the sources of language.
