Phosphorus and organice matter can modify the local geochemistry of wetland system, but the effects of the river on lake, are not well understood. To investigate the relative importance of stream nutrient and transformation processes on the intersection with lake in the sediments at different macrophytes communities, total phosphorus(TP) and sediment organice matter(SOM) concentrations of the river and the intersecton with Lake Taihu were monitored. Some results were found that TP retained of the sediment in the river was 1-2fold greater than the intersection of river with lake Taihu.SOM contention in river was lower than that in estuarine region. There were not significant relationship(P〈0.005) between total phosphorus and organice matter in the sediment with growing of the defferient macrophyte communities. The total phosphorus and organice matter were significantly different(P〈0.005) in the sediment with growing of different macophytes communities.
