The well-known philosopher Peter Singer systematically formulates his views on vegetarianism in the book titled Animal Liberation. In Singer's viewpoint, vegetarianism could mitigate the suffering humanity brings to animals, reduce environmental pollution, eliminate global famine and be conducive to human's biological health and spiritual pleasure. For vegetarians, it's not merely a symbolic gesture to be a vegetarian, and vegetarian cooking should be defined by oneself. The philosophical base of Singer's vegetarianism theory is the ethical principle of "considering benefit equally". The theory remains to be further scrutinized, but its significance should never be overlooked and underestimated.
