摘要
本文以汉代为例,探讨了边吏在疆域形成和发展中的作用。认为,在古代中国疆域形成的过程中,边疆地方官吏在其中的作用是值得关注的。边吏在古代中国疆域形成中的作用大致上可以从边疆行政建制的建立和完善、边疆地区社会稳定、边疆地区经济文化的发展等几个方面体现出来。优秀的边吏可以实现王朝疆域的拓展,或通过建立相对完善的统治制度、汉文化的传播来密切边疆和内地的关系,进而巩固王朝的疆域;相反,昏庸的边吏则会引起边疆统治秩序的混乱,甚至导致王朝对边疆地区经营的失败,不得已而放弃对一些边疆地区的经营,由此而引起王朝疆域的缩小。
Focusing on the period of the Han Dynasty, the paper discusses the role of the borderland officials in the forming of China＇s territory. Their role finds expression in the establishment of the borderland administration, the stabilization and the socio-economic development of the borderland. Good borderland officials could help expand the territory of the Han Imperial Court or improve the administrative system and the relationship with the Han culture at that time and strengthen the Han ruling. On the contrary, corrupt officials would bring about disorders in the borderland or spoil the administration, which would lead to a reduction in territory.
