摘要
爱伦·坡的"丽姬娅"是一篇充满赛义德所说的东方主义色彩的短篇小说。尽管在爱伦·坡创作这个故事的时候,赛义德所建构的东方主义理论尚未出现,但是,我们在文本的叙述中却能看到东方主义的一些基本要素:首先,主人公丽姬娅代表了古老而神秘的东方;其次,文本的叙述者就是一位东方学家;第三,文本的叙述者构筑了一个想象中的东方世界。当然,这个东方世界并非是真实的东方,它是爱伦·坡艺术想象的产物。
Allan Poe＇ s short story “Ligeia” is saturated with what Edward Said has described as Orientalism.Although at the time Poe was writing, Said＇ s theory hadn＇t appeared yet, the basic images of Orientalism,however were available. First, Ligeia represents all the mysteries and taboos associated with the Oriental female and the Orient as female. Second, the narrator can be regarded as a kind of Orientalist. Third, the narrator transforms his English abbey into a place of imaginative Oriental world which is only the artistic creation of Poe＇ s imagination.
