摘要
以生成语言学古典理论阶段中的X阶标理论为例,指出乔姆斯基生成语言学的特点是"以独立论为方法论指导原则,以理想化言者的内化语言能力为研究对象,以揭示语言的普遍性为研究目的,并且力求研究方案的最简性"。乔姆斯基全新的生成语言观被人奉为"乔姆斯基革命",然而乔姆斯基生成语言学也受到了不少批评,诸如"忽略或者不重视语境、语言功能以及研究范围局限于短语或句子"等问题。为让理论更全面诠释语言现象,本文认为乔姆斯基生成语言学与功能学派有必要深入加强对话。
Through a case study of X-Bar Theory at the stage of Classical Theory, this paper sums up the characteristics of Chomskian Generative Linguistics as follows： guided by Autonomy Thesis as its methodology, regarding ideal speakers＇ internalized linguistic competence as the object of study and aiming to reveal the universal grammar in different languages by means of minimalist programs. Thanks for its brand-new linguistic outlook, Chomskian Generative Linguistics is admired as ＂Revolution of Chomsky＂ in linguistic circles. In the meanwhile, however, different voices were also heard criticizing such a theory. Chomskian Generative Linguistics was charged with ＂ignoring the importance of context and function of language, and confining the range of study to phrases and sentences＂. In order to interpret linguistic phenomena satisfactorily, this paper argues that, the theory of Chomskian Generative Linguistics is in badly need of an in-depth communication with Functional School.
