福克纳的《纪念爱米莉的玫瑰》被认为主要反映了美国南方新旧两种制度的冲突。文章从神话原型角度出发对之进行重新解读,认为小说中黑奴托比的形象一直为人们所忽视,而这个人物身上的阴性灵魂及母性是小说悲剧的关键。
Most of the readers and the researchers believe that A Rose for Emily reflects the conflict between the old system and the new one in the American South. From the viewpoint of Archetypal, however, the tragedy of Emily owns lot to Tobe, who is the Negro in her family.
