Mter World War Ⅱ, there was a profound change to the class structure in western societies: while the class of blue-collar manual workers began to decline, a new middle class developed fast and grew into a dominant occupation and class group. The rising of new middle class exerted a fundamental impact on the western societies: economically, the difference in labor productivity between the industry sector and the service sector was lessening, and the gap between rich and poor was kept within a reasonable limit; politically, the class conflicts tended to be alleviated, and the blue-collar unions continued to decline but the unions and associations of the new middle class began to grow fast. The means of struggle of the laborers increasingly appeared to be "diversified".
