From the perspective of imprisonment-anxiety of authorship-strategies, The Madwoman in the Attic : The Woman Writer and the Nineteenth-Century Literary Imagination offers a comprehensive study on 19^th century Anglo-American women's literature. It highly values the influence of writers' psychological situation and subconsciousness on textual structures, characters, images, etc., and combines close-reading of texts with psychological analysis, Myth and Archetypal Criticism. But it also exposes some defects, including the binary opposition of facial and deeper structures of literary works, etc. Its achievements and defects mentioned above would be of important reference to the healthy development of Chinese feminist literary criticism.
