摘要
提出发展读者的命题,着重讨论把潜在读者转化成为现实读者,把一般读者转化成为熟练读者和把熟练读者引导成为读者积极分子的过程和措施。
The reader is a fundamental, crucial and most active element at a library. Therefore it is necessary to discover the reader′s need for library resources, develop and teach the reader the skills of making maximum use of library facilities. This is a continuing facet of library science. In this paper, the author discusses the means by which library can educate and encourage readers, i.e. turn potential readers into real ones, unskilled ones into mature ones and mature ones into reformers. In the author′s viewpoint, readership enriches both the theories and practices of library science and will ultimately improve library service.
