There are points of similarity between Choe Nam-son, the excellent pastoral poet in ancient Korea and Fan Chengda, one of the greatest Chinese poets in Song Dynasty: both of-them were deeply influenced by Confucianism and felt much sympathy for common people. Various topics, substantial contents, strong feelings and vivid descriptions are all the specific features in their creation. However, the two poets viewed pastoral life from different angles. Choe Nam-son indulged himself in the country life. "Words from dialects" and "rhyme from folk songs" are the ways of expression in his poems, while Fan treated farmland as his life destination. Therefore, he focused on modification and delicate arrangement in his writing.
