It is generally agreed that there exist the concepts of "combination of subject and object" and "separation of subject from object" in Chinese culture and in Western culture but there have been no satisfactory interpretations. Taking the differences between the main God images of China and Greece as the point of departure, the paper establishes a relevant connection between God image and self-consciousness and proves that the development of "Three Images of God" is a reflection of "Three Self s" of self-consciousness of mankind, with which a satisfactory interpretation of the differences between the main God images of China and Greece can be obtained with an embodiment of the Western and Chinese cultural concepts of "combination of subject and object" and "separation of subject from object".
