Hemingway is a talented stylist with a good command of modern narrative techniques and his short story, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is a classics embodying his narrative art. By using linear narrative mode, anachronous time order and complicated focalization style, Hemingway not only gives an account of how Francis, the hero, changes his nature from cowardliness into bravery and highlights the significance of Macomber＇s image, but also strengthens the theme and produces special stylistic effect.
