摘要
《北美自由贸易协定》是美国、加拿大和墨西哥三国于1992年签订的贸易协定。在此之前,加拿大与美国已签订了双边自由贸易协定。加拿大参与《北美自由贸易协定》的目的,是为了保住在美加贸易协定中取得的成果,防止墨西哥成为加拿大在美国市场的强大的竞争对手。加拿大参与《北美自由贸易协定》实际上并没有得到多大的利益,却付出了巨大的代价。由于《北美自由贸易协定》对加拿大负面影响太大,加拿大社会出现了呼声,要求与美国重新谈判新的贸易协定。
North American Free Trade Agreement （NAFTA） is the trade agreement signed by the United States, Canada and Mexico in 1992. Before then, Canada and the United States had signed a bilateral free trade agreement. The purpose of Canada＇s joining the NAFTA was mainly to defend its gains from Canada-US trade agreement and prevent Mexico from becoming its strong rival in the American market. Canada actually gained little benefit from the NAFTA but it has paid a big price. Because of the huge adverse effects of the NAFTA, demand for renegotiation of a new trade agreement with the United States has been voiced in Canada.
