The love triangle story in Carson McCullers' s The Ballad of Sad Card carries a very wired sense ot Gothicism. The analyses in the past have always been focused on this weirdness, but ignored the social status of men and women shown in his work. This article analyzed the characteristics of McCullers herself, the social environment of America at that time, and all the female characters in the book and therefore revealed the gender problems that existed in America back then.
