摘要
以萨义德的《知识分子论》为理论基础,对奈保尔2004年新作《魔种》与此前的作品《半生》进行比较分析来探寻奈保尔本人的双重文化身份所导致的双重视角,以及由此产生的身份危机。对奈保尔的创作作出了相对客观的评介,指出后殖民作家所面临的共同问题:无法真正地、彻底地走出文化流亡者的窘境,也没能突破其独特文化身份的局限。对于奈保尔创作陷入瓶颈的原因作出了合理的解释,留下了进一步思索和探求的空间。
Based theoretically on Said's Representations of the Intellectual : The 1993 Reith Lectures, the Magic Seeds as Naipaul' s latest work in 2004 and the Half a Life as his previous one are discussed comparatively to explore his double cultural perspectives resulting from his own bicultural identity and his identity crisis thereupon. A relatively objective comment upon Naipaul's literary creation is thus set out, where the common problem most post-colonialism writers are facing to is found, i.e. , they can not really and thoroughly walk out of the dilemma of cultural exiles and fail to break through the restriction on their unique cultural identities. The paper tries to give a reasonable explanation for the reason why Naipaul' s creativity is on the horns of a dilemma with a space given for further reflection and exploration.
