Assessment and Academic Competence Development of English Postgraduates

摘要 通过对问卷调查以及访谈的数据进行分析,研究发现英语专业研究生评估中存在不少问题,如认识模糊、方式单一等。在此基础上,我们提出了客观公正和全息评估原则,建议在研究生选拔中确保测试及评分的有效性;在课程学习中采取量化评估和学术档案袋形式;严格中期考核、开题报告、论文审核和答辩等流程;建构全息动态评估体系,结合定量与定性评价,综合考虑语言能力、专业知识和学术研究能力等因素,切实促进英语专业研究生的学术能力发展。 Based on data analysis from questionnaires and interviews, this study reveals that there exist such problems as misconception and simplicity of methodology in the assessment of English postgraduates. We thus advocate the principle of objectivity and dynamicity in assessment, suggesting that the validity of test and scoring should be guaranteed in enrolling postgraduates and that quantitative assessments as well as academic portfolio should be adopted in course learning. Furthermore, midterm assessment, research proposal, thesis evaluation and paper defense should be strictly administered. To improve English postgraduates' academic competence, a dynamic assessment system should be established, in which qualitative assessments are integrated with quantitative ones, and such factors as language competence, professional knowledge and research abilities are taken into consideration.
