Praying to dragon, an ancient ritual is widespread in Yunnan Yi people. Yi people takes "Dragon" as their God of village protection, which is not only symbol of the dragon of water, but symbol of Nagarjuna with many gods. The main purpose of the dragon ritual is to pray for favorable weather, a good harvest as well as praying for good fortune, ending disaster, safety and happiness. According to the famous French anthropologist Marcel Moss and the French sociologist Henri Hubert' s sacrifice theory, the ritual of praying to dragon for Yi people and its cultural connotation is discussed.
