摘要
日本因为拥有铁甲舰,欺中国无铁甲舰,悍然出兵侵略台湾,刺激了清政府。丁日昌等极力主张购买铁甲舰,抵抗日本的侵略。但是,清政府不少高级官员认为,外国的威胁主要来自俄国,不是日本,且财政困难,不赞成购买铁甲舰,致使中国拥有铁甲舰比日本晚了11年。1888年,北洋舰队建成,实力超过了日本。此后,又停滞了,日本海军又远远超过了中国,挑起甲午战争,北洋舰队全军覆没。历史的教训是沉痛的。
Qing government was stimulated by Japanese invasion into Taiwna,Ding Ri-chang etc.vigorously advocated purchasing ironclads to resist Japanese aggression,but some senior officials disapproved it with two masons,financial difficulties, threaten mainly coming from Russia,rather than Japan,which led Chinese ironclad being at least eleven years behind Japanese.In 1888,the Northern Fleet formed,its strength surpassed Japanese fleet,but its reconstruction stagnated in the later several years.In the Sino-Japanese war,the Northern Fleet was utterly defeated by Japanese fleet.It＇s necessary to learn a lesson from this bitter experience.
